Most health care facilities are financed by the government in collaboration with the public in form of groups and hence the managers have problems in implementing changes since a lot of consultation has to be done. Old aged people often face complex chronic conditions lasting from a few months to lifetime conditions. The large numbers of people demanding medical attention is hence a problem that every future manager should learn to cope with.
Many new diseases have developed and the viruses causing them have gained resistance to the available medication. The world health organization reported that incidences of chronic diseases have doubled in last decade and are expected to continue rising. The integration of complexity of chronic diseases and the high numbers of people suffering from the chronic diseases is a complex matrix that the future managers have to deal with to make the health sector effective. People have also raised their expectations of treatment and expect a better kind of treatment their parents got. Increased levels of educations have made the public more informed on modern treatments. This articulations therefore brings more pressure on managers to be in pace with technology and at the same time fight with the economic constraints.
Leaders in the healthcare sector are pushing for infrastructure and governance towards the implementation of the value based performance model. While the market is heading towards pay-for-performance purchasing, the management will be at crossroads on how to prepare for the future without avoiding an adverse financial burden in the short term.In conclusion, the future health care managers have pressure from the social, political and economic contexts and must be in a position to deal with them.
